Direct Care Across Greater Portland

Lighthouse Foot and Ankle Center is a direct-care podiatrist and foot doctor in Scarborough, Maine, serving patients across Greater Portland and Southern Maine. Heel pain that will not quit. An ingrown toenail that keeps flaring up. A fungal nail no drugstore fix has touched, or a wart that keeps coming back. When something is wrong with your feet, you want a foot doctor who takes the time to find the cause, not one who rushes you out the door.

As a direct care practice, Lighthouse is built around longer visits, a root-cause approach, and advanced treatments you will not find in most offices. Patients from across Greater Portland make the short drive to Scarborough for exactly that.

Do you take my insurance? How does direct care work?

Lighthouse is a direct care practice. We do not participate with insurance plans, and payment is due at the time of service. This is what allows longer, unrushed visits and treatment decisions based on what is best for you. We can provide a superbill for medically necessary services, which you may submit to a commercial plan with out-of-network benefits for possible reimbursement. We have opted out of Medicare and cannot bill Medicare or provide Medicare superbills.

An initial consultation is $299 and includes your exam, diagnosis, treatment plan, and imaging. Shockwave and laser therapy are $175 per session or $595 for five. Swift wart treatment is $325 to start, then $220. The fungal nail laser package is $1,500. See our Direct Pricing Sheet for the full list.

Can I use my HSA or FSA?

Yes. We accept HSA and FSA cards, and CareCredit is available. We can also provide a superbill you can submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

Do I need a referral to see a podiatrist in Maine?

No referral is needed to book with Lighthouse. You can request an appointment directly, and because we are not waiting on insurance authorizations, the process is simple.
