Every year on March 27th, folks around the world celebrate National Celebrate Exchange Day. It’s a national day that started in honor of the anniversary of when the first exchange club was created in the early 1900s. It originated in Detroit, Michigan as a club for local townsmen to gather and share resources, information, and ideas to help improve their local communities for the benefit of everyone. Today, over 600 exchange clubs exist in the United States, and National Celebrate Exchange Day is celebrated by remembering and honoring those selfless traditions.
At Lighthouse Foot & Ankle Center, every day is treated like National Celebrate Exchange Day. When you walk in to meet with our podiatrist, Dr. Michele Kurlanski, you can always expect to be provided with the best information, ideas, and resources necessary to take the utmost care of your feet and ankles. Dr. Kurlanski and staff alike want to encourage our patients to not only take advantage of what Lighthouse Foot & Ankle Center has to offer, but to return the favor by contributing to your local communities in the spirit of National Celebrate Exchange Day. Here are some easy ways to contribute:
Honor Thy Neighbor - if you have an elderly neighbor, or a neighbor who recently injured themselves, you can offer to assist them with easy yet vital tasks, such as helping with the groceries or sweeping their front steps to clear leaves and debris!
Pick Up in the Park - transform a regular walk in the park into a proud act by picking up trash as you go! Get prepared by bringing trash bags, gloves, hand sanitizer, and a comfortable, supportive pair of shoes to aid you on your adventure.
Retain and Recycle - it’s super easy to grab a reusable grocery bag and store it in your purse or backpack wherever you go! These bags can be quickly unfurled to store recyclables that would have otherwise ended up in the trash if you hadn’t come along to help!
